About aigaaustin.org
This is the 5th or 6th visual design of the AIGA Austin site, but more importantly, it is a structural rebuild of the underlying technology that can (hopefully) withstand any number of visual redesigns in the future. The idea is that, in web development, a “redesign” and a “rebuild” are not the same thing.
The site uses semantic XHTML and CSS on the client-side, and a fully open-source LAMP set-up for the server-side architecture. The CMS was custom-developed for this project and will be open-sourced to other AIGA chapters (and possibly to the public) once the site administration functionality is complete.
Like any site, this is currently a work-in-progress and all feedback is welcome. Other features currently planned, but yet to be added, include photo galleries, web service feeds (RSS/RDF/iCal) for site content, and more. Please feel free to suggest other features…
Accessibility
This site was designed to be fully compliant with the national and international accessibility standards of the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and Section 508 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1998. We believe that good design is accessible design. Find out more in the site accessibility section.
Customization
Customize your site experience and reading comfort level by changing the default typeface and font size in the site customization section.
